Sr. L3 Network Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a Sr. L3 Network Engineer to join our network infrastructure team. This role requires a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. You will be responsible for architecting complex network solutions, optimizing network performance, and ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across our infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 network architectures using Cisco Catalyst platforms
Develop and deploy BGP routing strategies for both internal and external network connectivity
Create innovative network solutions to address complex business requirements and technical challenges
Implement and manage microsegmentation technologies to enhance network security and isolation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable network designs
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues in production environments
Maintain documentation and best practices for network configurations and procedures
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers
Required Qualifications
Strong understanding of Layer 2 protocols and concepts including RSTP, VLANs, Trunk/Access ports, Layer 2 forwarding, and MAC address tables, specifically on the Cisco Catalyst 9300 platform
Strong understanding of BGP routing protocols, including iBGP and eBGP configurations and optimization
Proven design experience with the ability to architect solutions and deliver new network features
Solid fundamental understanding of Layer 3 networks and routing principles
Hands-on experience designing and implementing microsegmentation technologies such as PVLANs, Trustsec/SGTs, or equivalent security segmentation methods
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Highly Preferred Qualifications
Meaningful experience working with Cisco Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers
Hands-on experience designing and supporting networks in Operational Technology (OT) environments
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
Capable of standing, walking, and climbing ladders for extended periods
Comfortable working in data center environments with varying temperatures and noise levels
Ability to travel up to 20% for site visits, maintenance, and project deployments
